Navy Dad

Here is my woodshop (garage).

Some of the Projects I've done.  I started woodworking when I was young watching my dad build things in the garage.  He built a desk each for me and my brother when we wee in grade school.  He also helped me build bird houses while I was growing up in Kansas.  In High School I took two years of Woodshop, and my first project was a Mahogony Chess table.  It's only been recently that I received a new table saw that was accurate enough to do cabinet work.  The Gun Cabinet shown was my first project, followed by the fish tank stand.  More projects are being planned (rather, being planned for me!) to do in the future.

I'm restoring a 1965 Honda Benly 150 Dream Motorcycle.  I bought this when I was 14 years old in Offerle Kansas (where I was growing up).  While a couple of us were playing around in someone's field, we spotted this bike in a small shed that had had it's roof blown off!  Among the rubble was this white motorcycle.  When I approached the owner, he said I could have it for $30.00!

This is my 1981 GS1000GL Suzuki motorcycle that I bought brand new in Norman, Oklahoma in the spring of 1982.

A bearing problem in the transmission has forced me to remove the engine and split the cases in order to replace the bearing, and the associated seals.

At the same time, I'm going to perform a complete overhaul, using Wiseco Forged pistons that are 3.5mm oversize, increasing engine volume from 997cc to 1100.  Should add a little extra horsepower!  The picture to the right takes you through pulling the engine, and below moves on to the other steps in the teardown and rebuild.
