Miss Kitty...The first of
our children. She appeared under one of the bushes at our old house while
Michelle was working in New Mexico. Once she came in the house, she never
went ouside again! Not what you would call "an outdoor cat".
Tim was her favorite, following him around the house wherever he went. A
Showshoe breed, Miss Kitty had the vocal characteristics of the Siamese, and was
quite outspoken, and if a lap was available, she had to be in it!
Beauregard was never very far away, her buddy. She died February 2002 after
a few years of feline diabetes. We miss her a great deal. Our
best estimate of her age was 5 yrs. old when she joined us in 1993.
Beauregard...Adopted
when Miss Kitty decided he should join our family. He was one of the
neighborhood cats that came courting Miss Kitty, but he was the only one she was
interested in. Our pets are literally a part of our family, so when we
moved to our new house in 1994, Beau came with us. He is now the oldest of
our kids, and loves to butt heads, and sleep in the front windows. He
"shares" the Alpha male role with Harley. We think Beau
was about 2 yrs. old when he came to be with us in 1994.
Harley appeared on our neighbor's
doorstep when he was about 1 year old, and followed Michelle home by
grabbing her feet and biting her toes. He quickly made a home for
himself! He follows Beau around and tries to rub on him, but Beau
won't have anything to do with that! Harley is always on the lookout
for mischief, and no-one can go running through the house without getting a
pounce from Harley! Always trying to be the Alpha Male, he's become
the protector of the house. Harley was about 1 1/2 yrs. old when he
joined us in 1999.
Pele, just like the soccer
player...Found him at the local ASPCA. He weighed 18 1/2 lbs. when we
picked him up! Loves to eat of course, and
sleeping would be the next priority on his list. Very laid back, and
not much bothers him. We chose him because he had been at the facility
for almost three weeks, and felt we could help him with his diet. He
loves being out by the pool where he can chase the lizards! He and
Harley are good playmates. At 2 1/2 yrs. old, Pele joined in July of
2002.
Merlin...another snowshoe kitty.
Miss Kitty left quite a void when she died. So we adopted little
Merlin about two months later, in March of 2002. He had a few medical
issues, but we cleared them up with anti-biotics, and his health improved.
He also had Feline Diabetes, so much like Miss Kitty, we had to administer
daily insulin shots. However, a tumor in his stomach ruptured, and
Little Merlin died the next day after being with us for only 4 months.
He and Harley were great playmates, and we only hope that he was happy for
the short time he was with us.
