After pulling the engine out of the frame, I turned my attention to some of the metalwork on the frame used to mount various electronics. The fuse-block panel is shown below. As you can see, rust and corrosion have attacked it, most likely due to being so close to the battery. The second picture shows the backside of the same panel.
So off to the blasting cabinet! Below left shows half of the breaker panel glass-beaded to show how nice it cleans up! The middle picture shows the blasting procedure complete, and the last picture has the item painted in gloss black paint to match the rest of the motorcycle frame. Not bad...
The battery holder was in similar shape...corrosion from the battery, and rust from the elements. After it spent a little time in the blasting cabinet, it comes out, ready to paint. That blasting cabinet is the best investment I ever made! Great tool!
All of the mounting plates for the engine mounts were treated in the same manner. Everything looks brand new again! Next.
